Helpful hints for stain removal from carpet & Upholstery.
A quick guide.

RULE 1: DO NOT pour liquids on a stain.

Spills and spots are common occurrances. NO REASON TO PANIC, (unless you have already done so).

PASTY STAINS, fresh or dried-up: first, remove excess with dull edge of a knife, or spatula. Do not rub stain. With damp sponge or cloth dab a little moisture into the stain. Follow, dabbing with clean dry towel. Repeat until stain is removed.(May be followed by step 2 for liquid spills)



Liquid spills.
Step 1: Dab affected area with absorbent material (cotton towel, several layers of paper towel) to extract liquid. Repeat until transfer ceases. On carpet: place dry towel on stain, then step on it; change to fresh area of towel frequently.

Step 2: Water based spills (drinks, etc) Moinsten clean terry towel with water (non-dripping). Dab moisture onto stain area, beginning at the outer edge. Then dab the just moistened area with a dry towel. Continue until no more stain transfer occurs, then proceed to next portion of stain, treating no more than 2"x2" area at a time. Continue until all stained area is treated. If stain contains solids, professional help may be necessary.

For greasy stains use solvent instead of water and treat as above. Caution: tar stains can spread rapidly when dissolved. Use Q-tip to apply solvent. Ventilate area. Do not breathe solvent vapors.

To reduce matting fluff pile with coarse comb or table fork; let dry.
